Employment & Labour Law

Municipal Law
Thomas Davis Law regularly provides advice and opinions to our municipal clients in Northeastern Ontario in connection with the Municipal Act and other legislation, procedural and governance matters, privacy legislation, municipal by-law enforcement and issues arising from the general operations of a municipality. This also includes drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial contracts, attending Council and other committee or staff meetings to provide opinions and make presentations on legal issues as required. Thomas J. Davis
Originally from London, in 2014, Thomas and his wife made the move “up north” to the North Bay & Callander area out of their love and admiration for the beauty of this region and the outdoor lifestyle that comes with it. Since making the move, Thomas and his wife have set down deep roots and are now raising a beautiful family together; in an area that they and their children love.
Prior to working in North Bay, Thomas attended Queen’s University where he majored in Classical Studies and graduated on the Dean’s Honors List with a Bachelors of Arts Honors Degree. Following his adventures at Queens University, Thomas attended the University of Western Ontario School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctorate. After he obtained his Juris Doctorate, Thomas spent his articling period with a large regional law firm in London. In addition to Thomas’ academic endeavours, Thomas served as a Naval Intelligence Officer in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves for over 7 years. He also competed for both the Queens and Western Varsity Track and Field teams where he obtained provincial and national rankings and Academic All Canadian status.
In 2014 Thomas joined the firm of Valin Partners LLP wherein his practice encompassed many areas of the law. In 2023 Thomas made the decision to strike out on his own path and formed Thomas Davis Law, where Thomas is not only able to continue to provide exceptional legal expertise and services, but do so with greater efficiency and effect. Thomas’ practice includes a range of focuses including Employment and Labour Law, Civil Litigation, Construction Law, Real Estate Law, Wills, Estates and Estate Litigation, Municipal Law, Corporate Law and Immigration Law.
While at work, Thomas and his team of experienced law clerks are strong, determined, creative and detail-oriented with an intense focus on creating the best results in the most cost-effective manner for their clients. Jaimee L. Washburn.
Jaimee is a lawyer at Thomas Davis Law in Kapuskasing and North Bay. Her practice includes Criminal Defence, Civil Litigation, Real Estate and Wills and Estates. Jaimee has represented clients at the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant Board.
She completed her Undergraduate Degree in Criminology as a Dean’s List Honour student and she received the J.W. Trusler Proficiency Award, the highest honour in her program. While obtaining her Undergraduate Degree, Jaimee volunteered with various local organizations and travelled to the Dominican Republic to teach English to young students.
Jaimee went on to obtain her law degree from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in Thunder Bay, Ontario. During her time in law school, she served as the Vice President of Communications for the Equality at the Law Society.
Jaimee is currently on the Board of Directors for the Crisis Centre. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling to destinations around the globe, remain active by running, hiking, and playing hockey, and enjoys spending time with her dog, Ellie.

Christine M. Nickel
Christine practices in the areas of Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Wills & Estates. She is very attentive to the needs of her clients and works diligently to achieve desired results.
Christine completed her law degree at Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom. During her time abroad, she actively volunteered her time to the Pro Bono Society and Student Bar Society. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Christine earned her Masters degree in Legal Studies from Carleton University in Ottawa.
After being called to the Bar in 2017, Christine chose Muskoka as the place to start her career. From a young age, she developed a love for the area, spending summers at her family cottage on Lake Vernon.
Christine practiced law for many years in Muskoka and surrounding areas before she and her family decided to settle on the beautiful shores of Trout Lake in North Bay.
When not in the office, Christine enjoys spending time with family and friends, trail walks with her dogs, water sports and travelling.
